EXCLUSIVE: White House Press Team Actively Denying O’Keefe Media Press Credentials

For over a month, the White House Press team has actively blocked our White House Correspondent, Michael Casey from obtaining temporary White House Press Credentials. Despite repeated inquiries and full compliance with their protocols, we remain denied.

We have asked every question as to why this is happening. We even issued a legal inquiry to the WH legal counsel about this. Here are some of the WH Press Team’s responses:

“I don’t think we will be able to accommodate you anytime in the near future.”

Followed later by:

“What do you plan on covering?”

Here are some of the emails shown below:

Email exchange with Georgia O’Neil (White House) on March 9th. Our correspondent requested dates for White House access on March 16–18 and March 23–25 and was approved.

Email exchange on May 1st with the White House Press Office.

Our correspondent formally requested temporary White House press credentials for mid-May dates. White House Press Assistant Ellie Acra replied the same day.

Follow-up exchange on May 1st. After being denied credentials, our correspondent asked the White House if the denial was due to an issue with his WAVES form or if the Press Room was simply full. Our correspondent offered to correct any mistakes.

We are now facing radio silence from the White House.

In the past, our team has successfully received approval for temporary press badges and covered White House events. Now, there has been a shift in the Press Team’s language. We were questioned on what we intend to cover, which raises serious questions.

What report made them upset? Why is the White House asking a member of the press what they plan to cover?

At O’Keefe Media Group, our mission has always been clear: defend the First Amendment, fight for freedom of the press, and report the truth. Not everyone will like what we uncover, and that’s their right. But denying journalists access to cover the President of the United States is unacceptable.

We are asking the White House to immediately lift this denial and grant our journalist the same access as other members of the press have. Our legal team has reached out to the White House.

This is bigger than O’Keefe Media Group. When the White House begins selectively approving which journalists can ask questions and which stories are acceptable, every American loses. You deserve a free and independent press that holds power accountable regardless of party or administration.

We will continue fighting this and keeping you fully informed with updates. Thank you for standing with us in this battle for transparency and truth.
