Top ActBlue Donor Questions $230K in Donations: ‘I’ve Been Retired So I don’t Have Steady Income’

BREAKING: “No, my money’s not being stolen. There’s nothing there to steal,” insists Sonia ImMasche, a retired Colorado resident, who has reportedly donated over $230,000 to ActBlue from 2017 to 2023. Living in a retirement home and having been retired for 21 years, ImMasche finds it hard to believe she could have contributed such a large amount. “It’s kind of expensive to live here, and I’ve been retired for 21 years, so I don’t necessarily have steady income,” she explains, raising doubts about the legitimacy of these donations in her name.

Reflecting on her history of contributions, she admits, “I started out giving like $25 a month.” However, she has since scaled back, saying, “Now I’m down to $10 and $15 at the most.” While she stands by the small amounts, she admits, “I’ve cut back quite a bit. Living here has kind of cut into my finances.”

Despite being featured in a 2014 New York Times article as a prominent donor, ImMasche has expressed doubts about the accuracy of her reported donations. Reflecting on her donations, ImMasche shared, “It can get addictive” to keep donating, yet she is puzzled by the sheer volume reported.

ImMasche’s son was shocked by the reported donation amounts, stating, “My son was having a breakdown. He was tracking my credit card and was going, ‘My God, you’re donating way too much to politics.’” Despite these concerns, ImMasche stands by her contributions, stating, “I’ve cut back quite a bit. Living here has kind of cut into my finances.”

Sonia ImMasche’s story is far from an isolated case. Across the country, OMG has uncovered a pattern through multiple investigations, where numerous donors are linked to unusually large sums of money that they either do not recall contributing or find highly suspicious. These emerging cases suggest a broader issue that raises serious questions about the transparency and integrity of the donation process. As more individuals come forward, it becomes increasingly clear that this is not just a series of coincidences that call for further accountability and an explanation.

In response to ongoing scrutiny, ActBlue has issued a statement attempting to discredit OMG’s investigation. According to ActBlue, they “welcome the opportunity to respond to these frivolous claims. The promoters of this disinformation campaign have shown up at the homes of donors and harassed our staff in person. This must stop.” The organization accuses OMG of spreading false accusations and claims that the tactics used are “dangerous” and politically motivated.

ActBlue’s response highlights the growing tension surrounding their donation practices. The organization argues that the accusations are part of a broader political attack, stating, “Republicans simply cannot accept that millions of Democrats are energized and engaged in the political process.” This defensive stance underscores the high stakes of the investigation, as allegations of donation fraud continue to mount.
