We just broke a major story about that Chinese biolab in California that was operating without a license and collecting deadly pathogens, and we’re working on a follow-up to our reporting on that ActBlue donations that don’t seem to add up.

OMG GOES UNDERCOVER IN FRESNO TO REPORT ON CHINESE BIOLAB
We received undercover video of a US congressional aide admitting that the illegal Chinese biolab in California posed a grave risk to public health and national security. We asked Daniel Sepulveda if his boss, Representative Jim Costa, of California, thinks the lab endangered public safety. “Yes, he does,” Sepulveda told us. Thanks to a volunteer citizen journalist, we were able to confront the staffer and ask some important questions. We wanted to know if there are other labs operating in the same way, and what the implications might be of China operating a bioweapons program on American soil.
As you may have guessed, Sepulveda wasn’t interested in going on the record.
DAUGHTER OF DIPLOMAT LINKED TO KASHOGGI MURDER COMMITS SUICIDE
Sad news out of the Middle East: we learned this week that a young Saudi woman named Safiye has taken her own life rather than submit to a marriage arranged by her father, Saudi Arabia’s deputy foreign affairs minister, Waleed Elkhereiji. We’ve learned that Elkhereiji was the ambassador to Turkey in 2018 when Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist, was murdered in a Turkish consulate. Sadly, Safiye’s death is another reminder of the repression and control exerted on women in the Middle East.
IS THE TSA TARGETING ME?
This weekend, I noticed something interesting on my flight boarding pass: SSSS. Apparently it means Secondary Security Screening Selection, and it subjected me to extra pat-downs and questioning by the TSA. What did I do to get myself on this list — and is this how our government is targeting people who criticize it?
