Sean Hudson, Director of Community Relations for the Washington Nationals, admitted to an OMG undercover journalist that the Washington Nationals deliberately avoid publishing pitcher Trevor Williams content on social media due to his public defending of his Catholic faith.

Hudson stated that pitcher Trevor Williams was blacklisted “because of that” referring to Williams’ criticism of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ decision to honor the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a drag group known for mocking Catholic rituals and beliefs.
“Because of that, we [Washington Nationals] don’t use him [Trevor Williams] on social [media],” Hudson said.

This admission raises legal questions under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which explicitly prohibits employers from discriminating against employees based on religion, including limiting their opportunities or visibility due to sincerely held beliefs.
Hudson also revealed fan surveillancing of Google history, explaining how the Nationals sort supporters into “buckets” based on purchasing habits, ticketing data, and digital tracking.
“If you’re accepting cookies, we’re [Washington Nationals] getting your… a plethora of your Google history,” he explained. Hudson’s comments highlight how this major sports franchise harvest personal data through stadium apps, Wi-Fi networks, cookies, and digital tickets, often without fans fully understanding the depth of the tracking.

In addition, Hudson described efforts to monetize the team’s connections with high-level Washington figures, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Boeing executives, and defense contractors “like the Palantirs of the world.”
“We’re [Nationals] trying to use baseball to make money,” he said plainly.
Hudson also described there are internal segregated corporate meetings held exclusively for LGBTQ+ employees, excluding those who do not identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
“If you don’t identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ population, you shouldn’t be at this specific meeting.”
Hudson openly identified himself as “very far left-leaning,” noting a “Join the Communist Party” poster in his kitchen and expressing support for wealth redistribution initiatives tied to the team.

Despite acknowledging that many fans attend games specifically to escape politics, Hudson displayed indifference to alienating them, stating: “If we [Nationals] piss you off, where else are you gonna go?”
This latest undercover reporting from O’Keefe Media Group exposes how political ideology and identity politics have infiltrated America’s national pastime. While many Americans view professional sports as a unifying escape, organizations like the Nationals appear comfortable injecting activism even at the cost of sidelining players for their faith.
