This is an UPDATE on our March 6, 2025 story on State Farm executive Haden Kilpatrick. The original story can be seen here.
In March 2025, undercover footage captured Haden Kirkpatrick, then a State Farm Vice President, making explosive comments about:
-
California wildfire victims and insurance exposure
-
State Farm’s planned exit from California
-
His own hiring “bias” and DEI priorities
Watch the Footage:
The fallout was swift, with State Farm confirming shortly afterward that Kirkpatrick was no longer employed.
Now in August 2025, Kirkpatrick is suing James O’Keefe, OMG, and an undercover journalist, claiming the video was illegally recorded and “heavily edited.”
We disagree with these characterizations and stand by our reporting:
- The video consists of Mr. Kirkpatrick’s own words
- The footage was recorded in a public setting
- Our reporting has been factual
Why It Matters
State Farm’s withdrawal from the California market has had serious consequences for wildfire-prone communities. Mr. Kirkpatrick’s statements offered rare insight into how internal strategic decisions are framed — not in press releases, but behind closed doors.
His remarks about hiring preferences, including his own self-described “bias” toward demographic targets, reflect a growing national conversation around DEI, fairness, and corporate accountability.
Mr. Kilpatrick’s suit is lawfare, and an attempt to suppress speech the public has every right to hear.
