A high-ranking official at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been terminated after being recorded on hidden camera mocking the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
The footage, obtained by O’Keefe Media Group, shows FEMA Section Chief Sean C. Kelly making disparaging remarks about Kirk’s death during a conversation captured on hidden camera. Kelly referred to Kirk as “a lunatic” who “kind of deserves it,” and said that people within the agency were “laughing” and showed “not a ton of empathy” in response to the news.
Kelly also admitted to circulating memes about the assassination internally.
A senior spokesperson from the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees FEMA, confirmed to OMG that Kelly “is being terminated.”
Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot during a public event in Utah. His death has sparked national conversations, with reactions ranging from public mourning to online celebration, including from individuals affiliated with government institutions.
The incident raises questions about political bias and professionalism within federal agencies tasked with serving the public impartially.
When contacted by OMG for comment prior to publication, Kelly responded:
“I am unfamiliar with this, but, uh, have a nice day.”
