BREAKING: Second round of Meta Engineers Reveal Censorship Practices: “Pro-Trump” Posts “Go Just Up to Another Team to Take It Down”

BREAKING: In a compilation of undercover investigations by O’Keefe Media Group, several Meta employees shed light on the internal workings of the social media giant, admitting to political bias, censorship, and suppression of conservative content.

Matthew Fowler, a Software Engineering Manager at Meta, shared the platform’s approach to handling disinformation, explaining, “Usually the disinformation we saw was pro-Trump… We’ll investigate, and then it goes just up to another team to take it [the post] down.” This admission highlights Meta’s willingness to rely on mainstream media for content verification.

Fowler emphasized, “The news is going to do their job, and then based on what the outlets say… you have to trust that.”

He went on to acknowledge the political bias within the company, candidly stating, “they’re biased if they do that against the Republicans.” Dzhelepov provided further insight into the company’s practices, revealing that Meta specifically targets “crazy conspiracy right-wing people,” actively demoting their opinions.

Michael Zoorob, a Data Scientist at Meta, described how fact-checking policies disproportionately affect conservative users. “The fundamental problem is that… the vast majority of what fact-checkers label as false is shared by conservatives,” Zoorob explained.

When discussing how misinformation is addressed on the platform, Dzhelepov stated, “It’s either censored or it says a [community note] thing, where it says, ‘this is disinformation, it’s probably fake’ under the post.”

He acknowledged Meta’s role in suppressing voices, while Zoorob pointed to a notable example of this censorship: the downranking of the Hunter Biden laptop story following a warning from the FBI. “We just downranked it,” Zoorob recalled, explaining that the story was made less visible in users’ feeds.

These revelations expose the deep-rooted bias and suppression mechanisms employed by Meta, raising serious questions about the integrity of social media platforms and the fairness of their content moderation policies.
